The Right Mentality = Incarnational Ministry
1. Be a Learner Keep a learning attitude like what Jesus did as he grew up in a Jewish culture. Respecting local custom will open doors for you. Pride of being Americans definitely hinders the ministry. Learn to appreciate the environment even when it's difficult. 2. Be Obedient Obey the leader (because we are in the battlefield). Listen to the advice of leaders. 3. Discipline in Lifestyle Be alert- be a good examples in life style. Keep on schedule and keep your room clean. 4. Be Flexible Adapt to changes- be flexible. Ask help from other team members. 5. Practice Contextualize Sensitive to local context 6. Be forgiving and need more understanding Don’t complain or give negative comments just because of our personal taste or because of the American standards. Be considerate that people are not able to change overnight in certain areas. We also need to understand and respect the cultural differences. 7. Be positive Praise people for their hospitality. Encourage your team members. |
